Founded in 1943 by the Sisters of Mercy, St. Mary’s College combines the best traditions of the religious ethos of the Mercy Order with the challenges of modern society and the demands of
the Irish education system.

Our school is a co- educational school. We pride  ourselves on our inclusive community, our caring spirit, our work towards excellence and achievement for everyone.   We welcome students of all faiths and none. We enjoy the support of the community of Ballysadare and we are integral to the life of the village.

The staff of St. Mary’s College is committed to academic excellence. Students are offered a broad curriculum and are taught by a professional and dedicated teaching staff. We offer a wide range of extra -curricular and sporting activities confident in the knowledge that they help students to acquire a well -rounded education and enable them to develop their talents and abilities.  Students are well supervised and are encouraged to remain on campus at downtimes. Only those in 6th year and students who live in the village are permitted to leave the campus at lunchtime.

St. Mary’s College is located  7km south  of Sligo town. It is easily accessible by bus from Sligo.  It is also served by buses from Collooney, Coolaney and from the Ballina direction.

As a school, we can offer students individual attention in small classes and we can respond quickly to their changing needs and circumstances.  We operate an open enrolment policy throughout the year.
