Huge congratulations to Izabella Lehany Mc Goldrick who won gold in the 100m Freestyle at the 2024 Connacht Senior Schools championships for St Mary’s.
Izabella is a second year student of St Mary’s College, and swims with County Longford Swimming Club under the renowned Mr Ronan Mc Nevin and his wonderful team of coaches. Izabella trains in Longford most mornings. While most of us are rushing to get in the door of the school by 9, Izabella has travelled to Longford, trained for up to 90 minutes and is back in school ready for class at 9am. Her dedication and discipline is an example to us all.
Based on her excellent performance, she will now form part of an Interprovincial Schools Team, where she will represent Connacht. This is an outstanding achievement for a 13 year old who is swimming with and against other swimmers who are much older.
Izabella who is on the Regional Skills Academy looks forward to a busy schedule of swim events for 2024, where one of the highlights for her will be attending and representing her club at the prestigious Mc Cullagh International open in Bangor from the 11th – 14th of April, 2024, which she recently qualified for, which again is an outstanding achievement for a 13 year old. We wish Izabella continued success.
