Well done to our cross country athletes who represented St Mary’s at the North Connaught cross country athletics championships , which was held in Ballymote on the 30th of January.
This was the first time for all of these students to experience a cross country race. There were over a hundred runners in each of the categories – minor, junior, intermediate and senior and we had a team in each of the categories.
Running conditions were perfect, dry and sunny and cold! The boys did so well, their support for eachother was admirable and the effort and resilience they displayed in completing the tough course was fantastic.
Eoin Toolan had a phenomenal run for the junior boys and places 28th which qualified him to the Connaught championships.
The junior boys team came 8th overall a great achievement .
Minor boys placed 13th, and intermediate boys placed 8th.
We had two senior boys run for us in an extremely competitive field – well done to Eric Dahl Cruz and Abel Omboli for stepping up and representing us in this category a very daunting challenge!
