Guidance Update – Welcome Back
Dear Parents/Guardians and Sixth Year Students,
I would like to warmly welcome all our Sixth Year students back for what will be an important and exciting final year of school. We look forward to supporting your child in all aspects of the year ahead.
As we all know, Sixth Year can sometimes be challenging, but that does not mean it cannot also be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. With the support of parents/guardians, teachers and the Guidance Office, we hope to make the journey as smooth and manageable as possible.
There are a number of important dates and deadlines that students will need to keep in mind throughout the year. These include project work, oral examinations, entrance examinations and college applications. This can seem quite daunting, particularly if this is your first child going through the Leaving Certificate cycle, but please do not worry. I will be in regular contact throughout the year with reminders and updates on important deadlines.
I will also go through all relevant information with students during Guidance classes and individual meetings.
The best way to contact the Guidance Office is by email:
I can then arrange to ring you back if necessary.
It is also very important, regardless of what course or college your child is considering, that you carefully check the entry requirements for every course. Your child has access to a Careers Portal account, where they can find a wealth of useful information: CareersPortal
At this stage, one of the most important things is for students to establish a good and consistent study routine. It is equally important that they make time during the week for sport, exercise and other activities that support their wellbeing.
